In this system, the bass and midrange driver share a common centre with the high-frequency unit, ensuring consistent sound dispersion even off-axis. The Gold SP models are equipped with upgraded IsoFlare drivers, featuring neodymium magnets and a titanium alloy compression tweeter for the larger 10, 12, and 15-inch versions, while the 8-inch model uses a magnesium dome. These enhancements reduce distortion, extend frequency response, and deliver a smooth, natural performance. The FyneFlute™ surround further improves the driver’s ability to eliminate mis-termination effects and reduces colouration, ensuring precise bass and midrange clarity. This meticulous driver design is the core of the Vintage Classic Gold SP Series, offering a fusion of retro aesthetic and state-of-the-art acoustic performance.
BassTrax Tractrix Diffuser System
The BassTrax Tractrix diffuser system in the Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold SP series is designed to deliver precise and uniform bass performance. This system utilises a downward-firing port with a twin-cavity reflex loading arrangement. Hidden beneath the grille cloth at the base of the loudspeaker, this innovative diffuser converts the downward-directed energy into a 360-degree wavefront, dispersing sound evenly across the room.
Inspired by the Tractrix geometry, the BassTrax profile maintains a consistent 90-degree angle at every intersection, minimising reflections and ensuring smooth, distortion-free bass reproduction. This clever design not only enhances bass articulation but also makes the loudspeaker less sensitive to room placement, allowing for flexible positioning without compromising sound quality.
By reducing standing waves and internal reflections, the BassTrax system ensures tighter, more controlled low-frequency performance, contributing to the Vintage Classic Gold SP Series’ ability to deliver deep, immersive bass while maintaining clarity across all frequencies .
Crossover
The Vintage Classic Gold SP Series is equipped with an expertly designed, bi-wired passive crossover, fine-tuned for exceptional audio clarity. Using premium audiophile components, including high-grade polypropylene capacitors, low-loss laminated iron core inductors, and high-power precision resistors, the crossover is engineered to deliver a natural and transparent sound.
Each component is hand-wired on fibreboard panels to reduce vibration, while the entire assembly undergoes Deep Cryogenic Treatment (DCT) to improve the signal path which can become affected during the manufacturing process. This meticulous attention to detail ensures optimal signal transfer and precise frequency separation between the bass/midrange and high-frequency drivers.
The inclusion of upgraded gold-plated ETI terminals and Neotech PC-OCC wiring allows for superior conductivity and signal integrity, bringing out the best in every listening session.
